Motherhood - A Gift & Privledge

I hope all the mothers had a wonderful Mother's Day.  My day was a little difficult at times.  This was the first time since giving birth to my child over 17 years ago that I didn't spend it with her.  I spent some time today lamenting my child who was not here on Mother's Day.  Yet I found myself praising God that He allowed me the privledge of being a mother.  A child is an incredible gift--the ability to give life to another--one of God's greatest gifts and blessings.

Proverbs 31:25-26 speaks of a wife and mother-- "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue."  v.28  Her children arise and call her blessed;
I found myself praising God for His goodness towards me throughout the day.  He brought people along side me that blessed me tremendously.  Two friends that I don't see or talk to very often offered encouragement in a special way.  In I Thessalonians 5:11 it says, "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."  Without realizing it today my two friends built me up earlier in the afternoon and this evening when I had a difficult time I was reminded of those two ministering angels.
As our heavenly Father brings others around to minister to us and pray for us.  As a mother (parent) of children we need to continually pray for our children and help direct their steps.  Sometimes we have to fight for our children--even when they don't want us to.    Ephesians 6:12 reminds us For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.   Satan would like to thwart our children from serving a Holy God.  We must be willing to fight on their behalf.  It may be difficult--painful at times but we must persevere.
Romans 3:5-7 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

A friend shared a great poem with me this evening--
With trials
we grow stronger in faith;
With faith
we move closer to God;
With God
we can do all things.

This is a great poem and it strengtened my heart in many ways.  My friend did not know it but that last line comes from my life verse.  I say my life verse because anytime in my life that I've went through a difficult time that was the verse that God brought to mind and I leaned on.  It's found in Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me.  - As you endure trials I pray you will grow in faith, move closer to God and do all things according to His will for your life.
